Radiometer

Radiometer

Supplier: MOLLER THERM

Radiometer according to Crookés. Consists of a glass container on foot with low air pressure and needle-bearing spinner with four vertical mica discs. The discs are black on one side and shiny on the other. The discs thus absorb radiation differently. The higher temperature of the dark side means that the air molecules get greater kinetic energy in collision with the dark side of the discs than with their shiny side. The result is that the spinner starts to rotate.

Maltese cross tube

Maltese cross tube

Supplier: 3B Scientific

Evacuated glass flask containing i.a. electron gun with directly heated tungsten wire cathode and a cylindrical anode. The electron gun emits a divergent electron beam, aimed at an Maltese cross of aluminum placed in the middle of the tube. The cross can be connected electrically. At the same time, light from the filament is also directed towards the cross, so that a comparison can be made between the shadows of different types that appear on the luminescent surface at the far end of the tube. Electrodefraction tubes

Electrodefraction tubes

Supplier: PHYWE

Equipment for quantitative demonstration of the electron's wave nature and particle properties. At high electron energy, interference can be observed and evaluated in the form of Debye-Scherrer rings. The Broglie equation and Bragg's conditions can be proved. At low electron energies, the paticle properties of the electron can be demonstrated in a manner similar to geometric optics.

Gyroscopic motion, spoked wheel

Gyroscopic motion, spoked wheel

Supplier: 3B Scientific

Spoked wheel with weighted rim for demonstrating conservation of angular momentum. Simple to use due to small wheel radius and ease of suspension. Teachers and students can feel the conservation of angular momentum as they hold the spinning wheel while sitting in a rotating chair or standing on a rotating platform. You can also create the effect of precession by spinning the bicycle wheel and hanging it from a string.
