Evacuated glass flask containing i.a. electron gun with directly heated tungsten wire cathode and a cylindrical, collimating anode. The generated beam is allowed to stroke along a semi-transparent mica disc in the center of the tube. Luminescent coating on the front of the disc makes the beam appear. Two of the edges of the back are provided with graduated scales.

Radiometer according to Crookés. Consists of a glass container on foot with low air pressure and needle-bearing spinner with four vertical mica discs. The discs are black on one side and shiny on the other. The discs thus absorb radiation differently. The higher temperature of the dark side means that the air molecules get greater kinetic energy in collision with the dark side of the discs than with their shiny side. The result is that the spinner starts to rotate.

For demonstration of electric fields between electrodes of different shapes. The electrodes have been applied in thin conductive layers on plexiglass plates and the field line images appear in groats placed in a cuvette with 1 to 2 mm castor oil (the cuvette is placed on the plexiglass plate). The cuvette has an annular electrode in the outer jacket and a 4 mm connection sleeve. The cleaning is easy when electrodes resp. plexiglass plate never comes into contact with the oil.
