Maljoissa on 25 ml elatusainetta, mikä estää kuivumisen jopa 1000 litran näytteenoton ja pitkän, jopa 7 päivää kestävän inkubaation aikana (esim. hiivat ja homeet). Maljojen halkaisija on 90 mm. Tiiviissä (H₂O₂-läpäisemätön) sisäpussissa on kuivausaine, joka absorboi kondensaatiovettä. Maljoja säilytetään huoneenlämmössä (15-25 °C). Voidaan säilyttää käyttöpaikassa.
