α-Cyclodextrin is reported useful for the selective precipitation of enantiomeric, positional or structural isomers. Cyclodextrins have hydrophobic cavities; form inclusion compounds with organic substances, salts and halogens in the solid state or in aqueous solutions.

Soluble in water (50 mg/ml).
