Dimethyl sulphoxide ≥99%, liquid
About this item
Dimethyl sulfoxide is a dipolar, aprotic solvent. Has been shown to accelerate strand renaturation (1-10% concentration) and is believed to give the nucleic acid thermal stability against depurination. By heating the solid form to approximately 30 °C, the product can be melted without harming it's stability.
- Auto Ignition: 573 °F
- Vapor Pressure: 0.42 mmHg ( 20 °C) (Lit.)
- Refractive Index: n20/D 1.479(lit.)
- Dielectric Constant: 45
Dimethyl sulfoxide is used to enhance dermal absorption of many chemicals. A solvent for many organic and inorganic compounds including fats, carbohydrates, dyes, resins, and polymers.Used in antifreeze or hydraulic fluids and as a cryopreservative for cell cultures.Used in the oxidation of thiols and disulfides to sulfonic acids. Used as a PCR cosolvent to help improve yields, especially in long PCR.
Soluble in water, methanol, acetone, ether, benzene, chloroform.
Caution: Store at Room Temperature (15-30 °C), desiccate.
- CAS Number:67-68-5
