α-Cyclodextrine
α-Cyclodextrin
Supplier: Abcam
Non-reducing cyclic saccharide consisting of six α-1,4-linked D-glucopyranosyl units produced by the action of cyclodextrin glucosyltransferase (CGTase, EC 2.4.1.19) on hydrolyzed starch. Useful for the solubilisation of nonpolar macromolecules such as fatty acids, lipids, and cholesterol for use in cell culture applications. Cyclodextrins are low molecular weight organic molecules which form water-soluble complexes with various compounds.

α-Cyclodextrin is reported useful for the selective precipitation of enantiomeric, positional or structural isomers. Cyclodextrins have hydrophobic cavities; form inclusion compounds with organic substances, salts and halogens in the solid state or in aqueous solutions.
