Seals
A variety of seals for the protection of lab samples from contamination are available at Avantor. Secure microplate samples with films, foils, and sealing tapes; select products appropriate for ELISA, PCR, cold storage, and general incubation. Sealing mats minimize evaporation and eliminate cross-contamination. For beakers, flasks, petri dishes and other labware, choose sealing films that are heat or chemical resistant. Insure sample integrity with security seals that provide evidence of tampering. Mechanical seals are also offered.

Microplate sealing tape

Acetate film with acrylic adhesive. This self-adhesive microplate sealing tape is suitable for sealing both 96-well and 384-well plates. The precut, pressure-senstive tape seals and reseals the surface of the plates during incubations to prevent evaporation and allow more vigorous mixing. The tape will reseal the plates 2 to 3 times.

Gas permeable adhesive seal

The gas permeable adhesive seal provides a simple and effective way of venting cultures whilst providing a barrier against contaminating bacteria. When used in conjunction with Thermo Scientific storage plates, bacterial growth can be increased by over 50%, compared to plates sealed with an aluminium foil seal or sealing mat.
