Cell permeable inhibitor of necrosis. Selectively blocks oxidative stress-induced necrotic cell death (~3 µm IM-54 prevented ~50% cell death in HL60 cells exposed to 100 µm H₂O₂). Does not protect against etoposide-induced apoptosis or display antioxidant properties. Does not affect S6K1 and PKC kinase activities at concentrations of 50 µm.
