Caring for Our Associates
The health, safety and well-being of our associates is paramount. Our proactive safety approach and resources for fostering well-being are designed to help associates stay safe at work and lead healthy lives.

Supporting Associate Health & Well-being
We take a holistic view of the health and well-being of our associates, presenting physical, mental and emotional wellness offerings. We provide services such as virtual support groups and on-demand webinars focused on topics including psychological safety, mindfulness, positive parenting, empathy, stress and anxiety, as well as access to the BetterUp professional coaching platform.
In 2024, we created dedicated mental health spaces at our sites in Dublin, Ireland, and Lutterworth, UK in response to associate requests for a space for mental and physical health breaks. Our enterprise-wide global fitness challenges focus on encouraging associates to stay active and maintain healthy habits.
Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides essential mental health services to all associates and eligible family members. To further strengthen our commitment, 24 HR team members were trained in Mental Health First Response in 2024, equipping them with tools to foster a compassionate workplace culture and support colleagues during critical moments.

Workplace Safety Culture
Avantor’s Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability and Security (EHSS&S) teams lead our global strategy to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance across all locations — from laboratories and manufacturing sites to distribution centers and offices. Supported by associate engagement, ongoing training and safety programs, we have consistently met or exceeded our safety targets every year since they were introduced.
Our health and safety program is rooted in a proactive, risk-based approach focusing on prevention, regulatory adherence and continuous improvement. From global initiatives such as World Safety Day to regional and site-specific events, Avantor promotes workplace safety using educational materials and open feedback sessions, encouraging associate involvement in strengthening our safety culture. A health and safety maturity modeling tool that assesses current performance and sets three- to five-year targets is helping establish meaningful KPIs starting in 2025. Avantor associates received Train the Trainers certifications, and the initiative is being rolled out across the organization.
Our efforts are paying off: we met our performance metric of reducing the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) by 25% two years ahead of schedule, achieving a rate of 0.34 in 2024 — 50% better than the industry average for distribution and manufacturing. We’re continuing to foster a safety-first culture, supported by our emphasis on leadership engagement and accountability, as well as robust emergency response protocols and ongoing collaboration with emergency agencies worldwide.
