Easy, convenient and time-saving method to measure the level of Dihydrotestosterone in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, culture supernatants and other biological fluids.
Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), also known as androstanolone or stanolone, is an endogenous androgen sex steroid and hormone. DHT is biologically important for sexual differentiation of the male genitalia during embryogenesis, maturation of the penis and scrotum at puberty, growth of facial, body, and pubic hair, and development and maintenance of the prostate gland and seminal vesicles.
The enzyme 5α-reductase catalyses the formation of DHT from testosterone by mediates the reduction of the C4-5 double bond of testosterone. Relative to testosterone, DHT is considerably more potent as an agonist of the androgen receptor (AR).
Dihydrotestosterone ELISA kit is a competitive ELISA assay for the quantitative measurement of dihydrotestosterone in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants. The density of colour is proportional to the amount of dihydrotestosterone captured from the samples.
