Mode of action and Anti-microbial spectrum: Hygromycin B is an aminocyclitol with a wide spectrum of activity that kills bacteria, fungi and higher eukaryotic cells by inhibiting protein synthesis. It is produced by the bacterium Streptomyces hygroscopicus.
