Crystal violet Cation-based violet dye

Cation-based violet dye. Interacts with aqueous KI - I₂ during Gram staining to produce a precipitate. Histological stain for Gram-positive bacteria and DNA. Shows antibacterial, antifungal, and anthelmintic effects in vivo.
