Natriumchlorid

Natriumchlorid (NaCl) er en uorganisk krystallinsk forbindelse bestående af natrium- og chloridioner, bemærkelsesværdig for sin høje opløselighed i vand og smeltepunkt på 801 °C. Det anvendes i vid udstrækning i laboratorier til fremstilling af isotoniske opløsninger, buffersystemer og kalibreringsstandarder. I industrielle og bioteknologiske processer fungerer natriumchlorid som elektrolyt, stabilisator og osmotisk middel. Det er kemisk stabilt og ikke-brændbart, men bør opbevares i tæt lukkede beholdere for at forhindre fugtoptagelse (klumpning).
