I modsætning til andre varmeapparater kan glasbeholdere placeres i direkte kontakt med varmemantlen uden risiko for, at glasset går i stykker. Mens stofkonstruerede modeller kan formes til at rumme en bred vifte af kolbeformer og -størrelser, er de stive varmemantler mindre modtagelige for spild eller rivningsskader.
