Mikrocentrifugerør er fremstillet af en ultraklar polypropylenharpiks, der gør det let at se indholdet og passer i de fleste almindelige rotorer til næsten universel brug. Rør og låg kan autoklaveres, og sterile rør leveres allerede steriliseret med stråling. Låg kan enten skrues på eller være fastgjort til mikrocentrifugerørene for nem lukning, og selv tryklåg forbliver på under intensiv centrifugering. Fås med konisk eller flad bund.
