Placering af vakuumfælder mellem et apparat og en vakuumkilde skaber et sikkert og kontrolleret arbejdssystem. Glasudstyret beskytter pumpen mod de adskilte opløsningsmidler og forhindrer samtidig, at dampe ledes tilbage i systemet. Vakuumfælder i reservoir-, én-dels- eller to-dels-design sikrer desuden, at personalet ikke udsættes for gasser, som kan være skadelige. Ind- og udløbsstudser i standardstørrelse passer tæt til almindelige propper.
