Fetal bovine serum is a natural product and may therefore vary from batch to batch. To compensate these differences between batches, a unique process which does not affect the biological nature of FBS: Single components naturally present in the serum are enriched in a higher quality thus leading to a more defined product.

Fetal bovine serum is most commonly used serum to supplement the cell culture media due to its high content of growth factors. Effective in promoting the growth of vertebrate, mammalian and insect cells.

A certificate of analysis indicating the country of origin is available for each lot of serum.
