About this item
Bax is an appromimately 22 kDa pro-apoptotic protein belonging to the Bcl-2 family of proteins, which are characterised by the presence of atleast one Bcl-2 homology (BH) domains.
- Dilution range:
- 10 µg/ml for Immunohistochemistry
- 5-10 µg/ml for Immunoprecipitation
- 0,1-1,0 µg/ml colorimetric, ECL for Western Blot
- Detects a band of ~22 kDa by Western blot
Bax normally resides in the cytoplasm, but following an apoptotic stimuli, Bax undergoes a conformational change and translocates to mitochondrial membranes where it inserts and mediates the release of cytochrome c. This activates caspase-3 and perpetuates the apoptotic cascade.
