Sulphate API medium is used for detection and estimation of sulphate reducing bacteria. These bacteria are able to grow and reduce sulphate to sulphide in this medium.

• Supplement: 4 ml/l of sodium lactate
• Final pH: 7,4 ±0,2 (25 °C)

Composition includes agar (14 g/l), ascorbic acid (0,1 g/l), dipotassium phosphate (0,01 g/l), ferrous ammonium sulphate (0,1 g/l), magnesium sulphate (0,2 g/l), sodium chloride (10 g/l) and yeast extract (1 g/l).
