Ecamsule (ECAM) has been used as a reference standard for observing the photo-stability and photo-sensitizing property of the ecamsule that forms a major ingredient in the production of sunscreen products by laser flash photolysis and steady-state HPLC coupled with mass spectrometry method.

This is an organic compound added to sunscreens to filter out UVA rays and to protect the skin from adverse effects of ultraviolet light like DNA damage, photo-aging and sunburns.
