Phosphate buffered saline is routinely used as a wash buffer in Western blot and immunoprecipitation procedures, as well as during sample preparation of cell lysates for use in general molecular biology applications.

Dilute 10X PBS to a 1X working solution using molecular biology grade water.

It contains 30 mM sodium phosphate, 1,5 M sodium chloride and 10,5 mM potassium phosphate.
