For cell attachment and growth, the slides require a simple washing in deionised water or detergent, followed by sterilisation at 160 °C for one hour. They can resist to direct heat as well as common organic solvents and fixatives.

A four-channel pipette needs to be used to transfer samples from the microplate to the slide.
