Na rozdíl od jiných topných zařízení lze skleněné nádoby umístit do přímého kontaktu s topným pláštěm bez rizika jejich rozbití. Zatímco látkové provedení lze tvarovat tak, aby vyhovovalo široké škále tvarů a velikostí baňek, pevné topné pláště jsou méně náchylné k poškození rozlitím nebo roztržením.
