Pufry odolávají změnám pH a chrání vzorky při přidání kyselin nebo zásad. Práškové a kapalné formy účinně sledují proteiny během elektroforézy, izolace a separace. Slané pufry lze také použít ke kalibraci a standardizaci pH metrů pro přesné měření. Blokovací látky zabraňují navázání protilátek na místa bez membrány, která by mohla vytvořit rušivé pozadí. Pufry mohou být k dispozici v různých koncentracích, aby vyhovovaly jakýmkoli potřebám, a to v kapalné nebo dehydratované formě.
