Calcium Chloride is a salt of calcium and chloride. It behaves as a typical ionic halide, and is solid at room temperature.
Calcium chloride is a commonly used reagent in biochemistry. It plays important roles in many biological processes, including signal transduction, muscle contraction, and maintenance of cell membrane and cell wall stability. Calcium chloride is used in the preparation and transformation of competent E. coli and in the transfection of eukaryotic cells with either plasmid DNA or high molecular weight genomic DNA. It has been used in the stabilization and two dimensional crystallization of the NADH-ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I) from Escherichia coli. It is also used as a dessicant, coagulant in rubber manufacturing and as an accelerator in the concrete industry.

Tris has been useful as buffers in a wide variety of biological systems. Uses include pH control in vitro and in vivo for body fluids and in buffering systems for electrophoresis applications. Tris has been used as a starting material for polymers, oxazolones (with carboxylic acids) and oxazolidines (with aldehydes). It is an auxiliary material in pharmaceutical science.

Il prodotto può essere rigenerato essiccandolo in forno alla temperatura di 120-140°C per circa 3 ore e tornando quindi ad un colore arancione per poi essere riutilizzato. E' adatto per numerose applicazioni sebbene non è consigliato per composti fortemente acidi o alcalini.
