Hydrocortisone, a primary glucocorticoid secreted by the adrenal cortex. It has three times the anti-inflammatory potency of corticosterone but much lower Na2+ retention potency. Hydrocortisone, known more formally as cortisone (INN, USAN, BAN), is a steroid hormone, produced by the zona fasciculata of the adrenal gland. It is released in response to stress and a low level of blood glucocorticoids.

The ability of MgCl₂·6H₂O to reduce the flammability of cotton fabrics has been studied.

IgG affinity gel works with antibodies from a variety of species and subclasses, many of which do not purify efficiently with Protein A or Protein G. The resulting recovery and purity of the IgG isolated by this method rivals that obtained from the same samples using bind-and-release supports such as Protein A or Protein G. Furthermore, antibodies purified with this gel are recovered ready for use in immunoassays or subsequent conjugation or modification steps; there is no need to neutralize or desalt the recovered antibody to remove harsh elution buffers.

Bromelain is a glycoprotein which is a highly active thiol proteinase (non-specific cysteine protease), which splits glycine esters but not lysine esters; it is also a protein-digesting and milk-clotting enzyme. Substrates susceptible to bromelain include all of the common protein materials such as gelatin, casein, gluten, collagen, elastin, globulins an muscle fiber protein. It is a cysteine endopeptidase with broad specificity for cleavage of proteins. It may be from a stem or piece of fruit.

Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide is a phase transfer catalyst ideal for the precipitation of DNA. Hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide is a bactericidal, cationic detergent. Its activity is neutralized by soaps and anionic detergents (i.e., SDS). Trimethylammonium bromide compounds form insoluble complexes with SDS. It is active at alkaline pH against both Gram positive and Gram negative organisms.

Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide ia used as an cationic surfactant suitable for the isolation of high molecular weight DNA in plants and other organisms(by a rapid method) as well as plant DNA for use in PCR analysis. It has been used to precipitate nucleic acids. CTAB provides enhancement of Concanavalin A mediated agglutination. It has been used for the determination of protein molecular weights in electrophoretic systems and for determination of critical micelle concentration of detergents. CTAB has also been used as a titrant for potentiometric titration of perchlorate and as a phase-transfer catalyst in reduction of arenes and heterocyclic compounds.
