La sospensione di spore del Geobacillus stearothermophilus è utilizzata in associazione con il relativo terreno (codice prodotto 1.10662.0500) per il test di rivelazione di residui degli antibiotici-sulfamidici secondo KUNDRAT. Il test rileva la presenza di residui antimicrobici quali: antibiotici sulfamidici e altri chemioterapici nella carne e altri prodotti alimentari di origine animale. Si tratta di una procedura qualitativa di routine. Il test si basa sulla diffusione delle spore di Geobacillus stearothermophilus (utilizzate come organismi test) nell'agar. I residui di antibiotico e sulfamidici inibiscono la crescita dell'organismo test. Il test non è influenzato dalla presenza di detergenti, disinfettanti e conservanti.

Serratia species are implicated in nosocomial infections. In several countries, Serratia marcescens is frequently associated with epidemics in intensive care units and in particular in neonatal and pediatric units.
