Pestelli
I pestelli sono comunemente utilizzati insieme ai mortai, sebbene modelli più sottili e monouso possano essere impiegati con provette da centrifuga per risospendere cellule batteriche, precipitati di acidi nucleici, proteine o pellet di altro materiale. Con i mortai, i pestelli sono tipicamente strumenti pesanti con estremità arrotondata per schiacciare e macinare campioni. Sono parte integrante del processo di triturazione manuale, facili da usare e richiedono pochissima manutenzione.
