I crogioli contengono soluzioni da essiccare fino a peso costante utilizzando temperature estreme e quindi da incenerire per minimizzare il peso. Spesso dotati di un fondo perforato, i recipienti fungono da filtro per depositare i precipitati. I contenitori di alta qualità sono offerti in versioni alte e basse, con o senza coperchi. These reusable crucibles made from alumina (aluminum oxide) are used for TGA measurements. After mechanical cleaning, store them in water (or possibly even in 10% hydrochloric acid) because many salts are soluble in water. Oxides form chlorides in hydrochloric acid, which can be removed by rinsing. After drying, heat the crucibles to red heat to ensure that no weight loss occurs when they are used.
