Ciò consente di contenere anche sostanze organiche volatili o sostanze chimiche non pericolose per periodi di tempo prolungati. Le bottiglie in plastica sono flessibili e funzionano bene per applicazioni a pressione, a basse temperature o quando sono preferibili strumenti infrangibili. Le bottiglie in vetro, trasparenti o colorate, possono resistere a temperature più elevate e contenere sostanze chimiche sensibili alla luce. Le bottiglie sono progettate per operazioni, contenuti o metodi di erogazione specifici.
