EverBrite™ mounting medium is a wet-set medium while EverBrite™ hardset mounting medium cures overnight to form a hard permanent seal with the coverslip, eliminating the need to seal coverslip edges with nail polish or other sealants. Recognizes a protein of 40 kDa, identified as cytokeratin-19 (CK19), which is expressed in sweat gland, mammary gland ductal and secretory cells, bile ducts, gastrointestinal tract, bladder urothelium, oral epithelia, esophagus, and ectocervical epithelium. Anti-CK19 reacts with a wide variety of epithelial malignancies including adenocarcinomas of the colon, stomach, pancreas, biliary tract, liver, and breast. Perhaps the most useful application is the identification of thyroid carcinoma of the papillary type, although 50%-60% of follicular carcinomas are also labeled. Anti-CK19 is a useful marker for detection of tumor cells in lymph nodes, peripheral blood, bone marrow and breast cancer.

MTT, XTT, and resazurin are reduced by mitochondrial metabolic activity to yield coloured or fluorescent products, and thus are useful for and assaying cell viability and quantitating cell number. MTT and XTT are reduced to coloured formazin salts that can be measured by absorbance. MTT generates an insoluble formazin salt, requiring cell lysis before the absorbance can be measured, while XTT does not require cell lysis for measurement. Resazurin is a non-fluorescent blue dye that is reduced to the pink fluorescent compound resorufin, which can be measured by fluorescence or absorbance.
