Ehrlich’s reagent III, Loeffler’s Methylene Blue. Methylene Blue was earlier recognized as a good nuclear stain, the staining solutions are always either aged or alkalized, if not both. More importantly it is an excellent stain for ribonucleic acid, which is the important stainable constituent of bacterial bodies, of lymphocyte and hemoportoal cytoplasm, and of nerve cell tigroid granules. It can also be employed in capsule stain. The capsule stain begins as a negative stain leaving the organisms colorless. The capsule are clearly seen as halo surrounding the bacterial cell. Another staining procedure is performed with nigrosin (Cat. No. 43925).

Acridine is a small cationic and planar dye that mainly binds to RNA and DNA. These dyes are strongly fluorescent. It resembles the structure of xanthene except that the heteroatom is nitrogen, not oxygen. Acridine is suitable for nucleic acid staining, particularly for cell cycle determination. Acridines are used as fluorescent materials for visualisation of biomolecules, and in laser technologies.

Das Epoxy Embedding Medium Kit ist ein sehr weit verbreitetes Einbettungsmedium für die Elektronenmikroskopie. Die ursprünglich von Luft (1961) veröffentlichte Einbettungsformulierung eignet sich hervorragend für pflanzliches und tierisches Gewebe. Aufgrund der geringen Viskosität des Harzes dringt es schneller in die Gewebeprobe ein als Araldite und andere Polymere. Es härtet bei niedrigen Temperaturen leicht und gleichmäßig aus, wenn Dodecenylbernsteinsäureanhydrid (DDSA), Methylnadicanhydrid (MNA) und der Beschleuniger 2,4,6-Tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol (DMP-30) zugegeben werden. Während der Aushärtung kann es zu einer leichten Schrumpfung kommen. Dieses Kit ist zum Einbetten einer Vielzahl von Geweben geeignet, da mit diesem Harz durch die Verwendung von zwei verschiedenen Anhydridhärtungsmitteln (DDSA und MNA) ein breites Härtespektrum für einen bestimmten Gewebetyp erreicht werden kann.

3,3′-Diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride hydrate has been used in immunohistological staining procedure and in situ hybridisation. DAB (3,3′-Diaminobenzidine) is utilised in many applications for the visualisation of peroxidase activity. In the peroxidase reaction, DAB serves as a hydrogen donor in the presence of peroxide. The oxidised DAB forms an insoluble brown end-product for use in immunohistological and immunoblotting staining procedures.

CC/mount is an aqueous based permanent mounting medium with a very high refractive index, which when applied to the stained tissue sections can store the tissue specimens permanently without the fading of the chromogens. Because of the superior refractive index of CC/mount, tissues mounted in this medium look like specimens mounted with organic based mounting media. No coverslipping is required with CC/mount. However, if coverslipping is required, dried CC/mount can be post mounted by using an organic based mounting medium. CC/mount permits the long-term storage of antigens localised using organic insoluble chromogen substrates, including AEC, DAB, Fast Red, BCIP/NBT, BCIP/INT and fluorescent dyes like FITC and phycobiliproteins. The high pH of CC/mount ensures increased stability of fluorescence intensity.
