KCNK10 is one of the members of the superfamily of potassium channel proteins containing two pore-forming P domains. The message for this gene is highly expressed in the kidney and pancreas. This channel is an open rectifier which primarily passes outward current under physiological K+ concentrations. The protein is stimulated strongly by arachidonic acid and to a lesser degree by membrane stretching, intracellular acidification, and general anaesthetics. Three transcript variants have been identified for this gene.

This mAb recognises a protein of 130 kDa, identified as Ksp-cadherin. Cadherins form a superfamily of related glycoproteins that mediate calcium-dependent cell adhesion and transmit signals from the extracellular matrix to the cytoplasm. Cadherins have been implicated in embryogenesis, tissue morphogenesis, tissue structure maintenance, cell polarization, neoplastic invasiveness and metastasis, and membrane transport. It is suggested that Ksp-cadherin is a marker for terminal differentiation of the basolateral membranes of renal tubular epithelial cells. Within the kidney, Ksp-Cadherin is found exclusively in the basolateral membrane of renal tubular epithelial cells and collecting duct cells, and not in glomeruli, renal interstitial cells, or blood vessels. Ksp-Cadherin has been suggested to distinguish Chromophobe Renal-Cell Carcinoma from Oncocytoma.

Human recombinant Chitinase 3-like 2 (from cells)

Chitinase 3-Like Protein 2 (CHI3L2) is a 39 kDa secreted glycoprotein which belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 18 family and the most closely related to human cartilage glycoprotein 39, which promotes the growth of human synovial cells as well as skin and fetal lung fibroblasts. Highest expression of CHI3L2 is in chondrocytes, followed by synoviocytes, lung and heart. It is not detected in spleen, pancreas, and liver. CHI3L2 may also be expressed in developing brain and placenta. Increased levels of CHI3L2 have been demonstrated in synovial fluids of patients with rheumatoid or osteoarthritis as well as in some other pathologies and in malignant tumors, particularly in glioblastomas. CHI3L2 may bind glycan structure with high affinity, but not heparin. It has has no chitotriosidase activity, but is likely to bind some type of glycan.

Chloride Intracellular Channel Protein 5 (CLIC5) is a single-pass membrane protein which belongs to the chloride channel CLIC family. It contains one GST C-terminal domain. Chloride intracellular channels are involved in chloride ion transport within various subcellular compartments. CLIC5 can insert into membranes and form selective ion channels regulated by actin that may transport chloride ions. It may play a role in the regulation of transepithelial ion absorption and secretion. CLIC5 specifically associates with the cytoskeleton of placenta microvilli. CLIC5 is required for the development and/or maintenance of the proper glomerular endothelial cell and podocyte architecture.
