Ballons
Ballonflaschen sind robuste Behälter, die hauptsächlich für den Transport von Flüssigkeiten – häufig Wasser oder Chemikalien – verwendet werden. Im Labor bestehen die Behälter meist aus Kunststoff, obwohl einige weiterhin aus eisenhaltigem Glas oder anderen bruchsicheren Gläsern gefertigt sind. Dank ihrer hohen chemischen Beständigkeit und lichtundurchlässigen Außenflächen, die UV-Licht blockieren, eignen sich Ballonflaschen zur Lagerung großer Mengen an Flüssigkeiten wie Lösungsmitteln oder deionisiertem Wasser, ohne dass deren Eigenschaften verändert werden. Polypropylen-Ballonflaschen sind autoklavierbar und somit leicht zu sterilisieren.
