Kunststoffflaschen sind äußerst vielseitig und kostengünstig und gehören zur Grundausstattung jedes Labors. Die stoßfesten Behälter bieten eine gute Feuchtigkeitsbarriere, und halbtransparente Ausführungen ermöglichen eine einfache Sichtkontrolle des Füllstands. Die Flaschen sind mit einer Vielzahl von Stoffen kompatibel und können Säuren sowie Ätzmittel sicher aufnehmen, werden jedoch im Allgemeinen nicht für Lösungsmittel empfohlen. Bei Temperaturen unter dem Gefrierpunkt bieten Kunststoffflaschen ausreichenden Schutz, weisen jedoch aufgrund des verwendeten Polyethylenmaterials Temperaturbegrenzungen bei hohen Temperaturen auf.
