Die salzhaltigen Puffer können auch zur Kalibrierung und Standardisierung von pH-Messgeräten verwendet werden, um genaue Messergebnisse zu gewährleisten. Blocking-Puffer verhindern die Anbindung von Antikörpern an freie Membran-Bindungsstellen, die ansonsten einen störenden Hintergrund verursachen würden.
