Natural bone. The common brown bat, Myotis sp., is an ideal specimen to use when comparing different mammals, or simply when studying its anatomy alone. With its modified limbs for flight and sharp teeth indicative of an insectivorous diet, the bat stands apart from other mammals. The bat skeleton is carefully positioned with wings partially expanded. Mounted in a double-view display case for study of dorsal and ventral aspects, it comes with a key identifying 58 structures.
