Bubbles are collected at the cathode end of the unit and shunted through a conduit tube to the anode end. The bubbles displace the buffer, creating effective recirculation within the chamber.

The self-recirculation system prevents the formation of pH and ionic gradients for high resolution and uniform, reproducible results. Eliminates uneven migration, band distortions, or dissociation of pH-dependent glyoxylated RNA molecules that can result when ionic depletion occurs.
