PE is one of the most commonly used types of tubing around the lab thanks to excellent compound compatibility. This low density formulation (LDPE) and range of available sizes are comparable to Intramedic™ tubing.
- Stiff
- Good compound compatibility
- Low air permeability
PE-50 is the most common size as it connects to 22 G swivels, luer stubs, couplers, and PinPorts. BTPE-25 is a custom size designed to mates with 25 G devices.
See also Instech's co-extruded PE/PVC tubing which has a layer of PVC around the PE to minimize kinking.
Sold non sterile on spools of 30 m (98'). Do not autoclave. Not for human use. Using PE for intravascular catheters is not recommended due to its stiffness; polyurethane should provide better results. Always follow aseptic technique per animal welfare regulations; any tubing implanted in a survival surgery must be sterile.
