Tail vein catheters for rats and mice can be easily inserted into the tail vein of a restrained rodent, with no surgery required. The size allows for quick, mistake-free access to the tail vein and once inserted, the flexibility keeps vessel trauma to a minimum.
- Optional wire stylet to help with placement
- Insertion needle included to aid in placing the catheter
- Access needle or luer included
- Very small diameter tubing at tip
- Optional tip markings help measure optimal depth
- PU and PE catheters available
- Non-metallic options available for imaging applications
- Designed for laboratory animal use only
- Animal size: all mice and rats
Unlike sharp, stiff needles, the catheter moves freely up the vein to ensure the dose goes into the bloodstream, not into the surrounding tissue or back out through the insertion site. It bends naturally with the tail, reducing injury and allowing for continuous infusion or repeated bolus dosing with less chance of ‘losing’ the tail.
