An important tool in diagnosing soil compaction, a penetrometer is also useful for consistency tests on a wide range of materials. Sturdy cast iron bases provide excellent support and have leveling screws to ensure proper alignment during testing. The penetrometer head assembly parts adjust for accurate placement of the needle tip or cone on the surface of the sample. Used to determine hardness, the machines determine the properties of substances.
