In molecular cloning, vectors are DNA molecules used to artificially deliver foreign genetic material into another cell. The four major types of vectors are plasmids, viral vectors, cosmids, and artificial chromosomes, with the most commonly used of these being plasmids. Vectors may be used for cloning, and certain vectors are specifically tailored to that exact purpose, while others may be designed specifically for transcription and protein expression. Simpler transcription vectors are used to amplify their inserted genetic material.
West Nile Virus (WNV) Reporter Virus Particle (RVP) with Renilla Luciferase Reporter
Supplier: ReVacc Scientific
Reporter virus particles (RVPs) package the capsid-preMembrane-envelope (C-prM-E) gene construct of West Nile Virus (WNV) (GenBank: DQ211652.1, NY99 strain) and a Renilla luciferase reporter. As the wild typed WNV is handled under BSL-2 precautions, this WNV RVP can be handled using BSL-2 containment practices.

Pierce™ Gaussia Luc Vector for Luciferase Assays, Expression Vectors, Thermo Scientific
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
Gaussia Luc vectors contain a gene cloned from the copepod, Gaussia princeps. The gene encodes a naturally-secreted bioluminescent Gaussia luciferase (approx. 20 kDa), which enables measurement of the reporter activity in media (for real-time assays) and in cell lysates.
