PBS is commonly used in biochemistry.
It is a salty solution containing calcium chloride, sodium phosphate and potassium phosphate. PBS is isotonic and non-toxic to cells. 1X PBS final concentration is 8.0 g/l NaCl, 0.2 g/l KCl, 1.42 g/l Na₂HPO₄, 0.24 g/l KH₂PO₄ and pH 7.4.
