Developed through a partnership with the Department of Energy and Brookhaven National Laboratory, this exciting activity guides students through the construction of a magnetic levitation train. Using the activity instructions and their understanding of physics and magnetism, students observe the conditions which create the most effective train. The size of each train can be customized for both racing and research; students can also vary the load to determine its effect on the train’s performance.
