Glass pestle has fluoropolymer resin contact surface threaded onto a stainless steel shaft. Mortar has a tooled mouth and is not ground. Sample and buffer are forced through cylindrical portion of mortar as pestle is rotated downward.

: Caution: If used with motor-driven device, attachment must contain some form of friction release clutch to prevent connective tissue or muscle from damaging apparatus. User should wear protective gloves of sufficient thickness in case glass components fail.
