About this item
This sensor incorporates WPI's proprietary combination electrode technology whereby the oxygen-sensing element and separate reference electrode are encased within a single shielded sensor design. A gas-permeable polymer membrane is fitted over the end of the sleeve, which allows oxygen to pass while blocking liquids, ions and particulate matter.

Oxygen diffuses through the membrane. The voltage applied to the sensor is held at −0.7 V when the monitoring device is on and the sensor is properly connected. The magnitude of the generated electrical current is determined by the rate of diffusion through the membrane. The rate is proportional to the partial pressure of oxygen outside the membrane. The current serves as a measure of the partial pressure of O₂.
Clark type of oxygen sensor with tip size of 2 mm, can be used for very small volume O₂ measurement. Applications are Cell culture, cell suspensions and cell tissue measurements.
