RapidStill I, Labconco®

For use with companion apparatus, Micro Kjeldahl Digestor (51054-007 or 51054-008).

The RapidStill I is designed for labs that are determining micro quantities of protein/nitrogen. It may also be used to perform only one or two macro determinations per day by simply diluting and aliquoting the sample.

One-piece borosilicate glass still is mounted on a chemical-resistant powder-coated steel console that houses all operating controls. Unit is leakproof, due to glass construction and chemically-inert PTFE stopcocks. 115-volt immersible electric heater inside the water reservoir is controlled by variable autotransformer heat control; built-in glass aspirator purges sample after determination is complete. Distills all nitrogen from a digest in 5 to 7 minutes.

Unit accepts digested samples up to 4mL (max.) and gives reproducible results in ranges as low as 1mg/L Kjeldahl nitrogen. It can accommodate other steam distillations that do not exceed 50mL volume of the distilling chamber.

Includes variable heat control switch for controlling steam, fill valve for filling the boiling flask, rear cooling water connections through the back of the housing, adjustable height shelf to support the receiving flask, water bottle for introducing distilled water to the boiling flask via the fill valve, one large "U" clamp and two small "U" clamps to secure glassware, and 8-foot, 3-wire cord with plug.
