Cloning cylinders improve colony isolation by assuring a homogenous culture of cells rather than a mixed population.
- Polystyrene construction
- Sterile
- Assure a homogenous culture of cells
- Cylinders are tapered in shape for wider bottom
To isolate incubated colonies, a cloning cylinder is placed around the colony of choice and attached by sterile grease. After adding trypsin into the cylinder, the dish is placed into an incubator until cells detach. Cells are then collected and transferred to another vessel. Cylinders are tapered so the bottom edge is wider than the top to afford a good seal. Molded of polystyrene.
