Nutrient agar is used for the cultivation of bacteria and microorganisms in water, sewage, feces and other materials. Nutrient agar is most commonly used to grow Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
It contains 0.5% Tryptone, 0.2% yeast extract, 0.1% beef extract and 0.5% sodium chloride.
