About this item

Glutathione (GSH) is an important antioxidant molecule that functions as a cofactor for a variety of enzymes and is involved in various biological processes

The SensoLyte® 520 Total GSH Quantitation Assay Kit utilizes an optimized enzymatic recycling method for the quantification of glutathione. Glutathione reductase converts oxidized glutathione to reduced glutathione. Upon reaction with reduced GSH, the novel proprietary thiol detection reagent supplied in the kit generates fluorescence which can be easily detected at excitation/emission =490/520 nm. The assay has a linear range of 0.2 to 100 µM GSH. The kit also provides 5-sulfosalicylic acid for protein removal from biological samples.

Total GSH includes reduced GSH and oxidized GSH (GSSG). The concentrations of GSH and GSSG and their molar ratio can be used for indicating the oxidative stress status.
